Andy Shieh, CPA - Manager
Andy joined Traner Smith as a Tax Manager in December 2019. Ever the optimist, he walked into the firm, handed the receptionist his resume and the rest is history. Prior to joining Traner Smith, Andy worked for many years in public accounting with CPA firms in the greater Seattle area. A Washington State Board Certified Public Accountant, he received his Master of Science degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University and his Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from Central Washington University.
A native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese, Andy’s bicultural and multilingual background allows him to work with and serve a diverse range of clients within the Seattle area and beyond. He is passionate about proactively helping his clients understand how tax laws affect them and guiding them through the intricacies of ever-changing tax law. He helps his clients implement strategies that generate the greatest tax savings. Andy has an entrepreneurial mindset and is an advocate for small business owners. His work integrates tax compliance and planning with business consulting for small to medium-sized businesses.
He is also experienced in the international tax arena, and offers a variety of international tax consulting and compliance services to U.S. and foreign individuals, such as pre-immigration tax planning, U.S. foreign reporting like FBAR (Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts), and FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) Form 8938 reporting, among others.
He enjoys outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest, traveling, cooking, hosting parties for friends and family, and relaxing on idle Sunday afternoons brushing up on IRS tax law.
